Everette Thorpe is a transgender (He/They) multimedia artist, working with textiles, film, and digital photography. Born in MI. They obtained their Bachelors of Art in 2020 with a double major in Art and Psychology from Western Michigan University. He is now based in Chicago, IL.
Their fiber and photography work explores the intersection of memory through materials. They use textile designs to collage vintage images to conjure new forms of ephemeral shared memory.
He has exhibited in The Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics in Chicago, Kalamazoo Institute of Art, Eleanor R. and Robert A. Devries Student Gallery, Albertine Monroe-Brown Gallery, and across Kalamazoo, MI.
They were awarded the Gwen Frostic School of Art Foundation Art Star. He’s received the DeVries Professional Immersion Grant, Frostic Enrichment Grant, and Gwen Frostic School of Art Student Enrichment Grant.
